Homeowner Repair Checklist
Use this checklist to find small home repairs before they turn into larger repair bills.
Practical repair planning for homeowners, landlords, and property owners.
Room-by-Room Homeowner Repair Checklist
Walk the house slowly. Take photos, write down what you see, and group repairs by safety, water risk, daily use, and appearance.
Kitchen
- Loose cabinet doors, drawer slides, handles, and trim.
- Faucet leaks, disposal issues, caulk gaps, and under-sink moisture.
- Damaged drywall, baseboards, outlets, and light fixtures.
Bathrooms
- Toilet movement, running toilets, faucet leaks, and slow drains.
- Cracked caulk around tubs, showers, sinks, and backsplashes.
- Loose towel bars, mirrors, lights, fans, and vanity hardware.
Living Areas
- Drywall holes, nail pops, settling cracks, and paint touch-ups.
- Loose doors, trim, shelves, blinds, curtain rods, and TV mounts.
- Squeaks, trip hazards, damaged flooring edges, and loose railings.
Fix First
- Active leaks or water stains.
- Loose railings, steps, doors, or anything unsafe.
- Electrical fixtures that are loose, damaged, or not working properly.
- Open wall damage where pests, moisture, or drafts can enter.
Good Monthly Habit
Keep one repair note on your phone. Add photos as things come up. When the list reaches several small items, send it over as one punch list so the visit is more efficient.
